A robust textile manufacturing industry once supported generations of Americans and their communities in North Carolina and throughout the South. But the last three decades have seen mills close, jobs lost and lives changed due to offshoring. The last generation of people who possess hands-on experience in factories and deep industry knowledge are now between 55 to 75 years old.
Last year Alvanon conducted a ground-breaking survey to understand the current sentiment around skills. Over 1,000 industry executives participated in a global ‘State of the Industry’ survey assessing the skills and talent gaps facing every link in the apparel value chain today.
To better serve all of these links, Alvanon is holding a webinar to address ‘What steps are US manufacturers taking to ensure their workforce is fit for the future?’
On Tuesday, October 16th, Alvanon senior advisor, Ed Gribbin, will present and debate the results of the survey with key players in the yarn, textile and cut and sew sectors and explore the industry’s best options for addressing the gaps.
This webinar will offer a deep dive on Made in USA, skill transfer, hands-on education of what is made and how it is made and where it fits in the ‘speed to market’ process.
